Existing Buildings

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.

In the amendments, the county adopts Appendix J as part of the code. Montgomery County, MD, County Code 08.00.02.03. Section 101.1. Appendix J provides guidance on existing buildings.

Where this regulation differs from the Montgomery County Fire Safety Code it does not preempt or negate any more restrictive provisions of that code.
